In 2004, I replaced the rotting coir fender on my Hardy Pilot with a polypropylene fender supplied by Messrs Langman B.V of Nijerk in the Netherlands. The price was 505 Euros which, at the prevailing ROE, was £339. The material was "4-strand high quality polypropylene rope (64mm dia.) with extra UV resistance, with a stainless steel wire core". The order was expedited very efficiently by Langmans.
I was in two minds as to whether to stay traditional and replace the fender with another coir fender - but think I made the right decision as, 14 years later, the polyprop fender still looks as good as new - see attached photo taken this spring.
Regards,
John Sutton

Hi Simon.
Thanks for the offer - we'll have to have a chat sometime as I'm asked often - The 25 rope is a chunky affair!
A nice looking 25 on your blog, looked like she was getting some fine TLC J-star style!
Best Wishes
Si.

To forum members, if you open this link to my blog you will see that fitting a rope Fender to a Hardy 25 can be done single handedly and it was done in just over 2 hours from first to finish by myself. However, I do know a little bit more than most how it was fitted as while I was at Hardy Marine I fitted a large number of these rope fender to all the hardy range of boats between 1983 to 1990. So if anyone are wishing to know how to do it give me a call at J-Star Boat Services 07585506960

Hi Oxley,
That's a good price as long as it is the correct diameter of 92mm

Recommendations to get the rope fender made for the hardy 25.
I have had a price of £400 including the wire. Is this reasonable?
