Hi Mark. On the yamaha's it's usually 3 or 4 bolts and off it pops (with the safety latch in place of course) - I'm not sure on the Mariner / Merc - a lot of component sharing took place so it may be the same, then again maybe not. There are a lot of manuals on www.boatinfo.no (not an easy site to navigate) but I suspect the workshop manual for your engine is there. One of the lady Helens motors is very rusty - I will epoxy it and paint it this year - knowing full well that in a year or two it will probably leak and go pop, then get a new one. I know that the new ones usually start rusting pretty quickly. Best Regards Simon.

Hello, the motor for the power lift on my Hardy Navigator is badly corroded. The engine is a Mariner 50 2stroke unit.
