Hi Mark.
On the yamaha's it's usually 3 or 4 bolts and off it pops (with the safety latch in place of course) - I'm not sure on the Mariner / Merc - a lot of component sharing took place so it may be the same, then again maybe not. There are a lot of manuals on www.boatinfo.no (not an easy site to navigate) but I suspect the workshop manual for your engine is there.
One of the lady Helens motors is very rusty - I will epoxy it and paint it this year - knowing full well that in a year or two it will probably leak and go pop, then get a new one. I know that the new ones usually start rusting pretty quickly.
Best Regards
Simon.

My question is
Is it simply a case of removing the motor held in with allen bolts, or is there something else holding it inside?
Any help greatly appreciated

Hello, the motor for the power lift on my Hardy Navigator is badly corroded.
The engine is a Mariner 50 2stroke unit.
