* This pic, threads cleaned and ready to go back in
Bung on top of pipe is the one that came out whole, that is also very soft and you can feel the threads giving as you attempt to tighten it.

* I have no idea if Hardy 27s are all the same? I know there were several versions/engine varities available.

Mine has twin MD22l units

Anyway replacing exhaust flex hose as it had been kinked with me sitting on it! so new hose to fit, think to myself I shall drain the fixed stiainless sections to save me making a mess, undid one drain bung a treat, went to undo other one and it sheared clean off, back in garage at home, go to centre punch remiaiing piece of brass, and the punch went straight through the remians of the bung, so I drill out the remains, last bit the brass is so soft I can turn the drill bit by hand which certainly made cleaning the threads nice and easy.

So if you have same set up well worth checking it.
