In reply to the second part of your question I think that us leisure boaters probably over do the servicing as we tend to do it annually but the hours run probably don’t require it. Might be worth checking the recommended oil change interval to be sure but pushing the service back is unlikely to cause a problem. The only caveat would be to check if those engines have any anodes - if they do then they will probably need to be replaced.

Having said all that, if it were me I would find a local engineer and get it done but then main agent servicing has never been a consideration for us do to our boats being a bit older.

Dear Hardy owners, I have a Hardy 42 (year 2009), equipped with twin MAN D0836 diesels. The engines have been regularly serviced by MAN official dealers. The last service was carried our in March 2020, and since then I cruised about 100 hours.

But this year, the official dealers' policy is not to travel until COVID has reduced, and also their prices seem to have escalated as well. So it seems unlikely that the engines will be serviced before the start of the season.

My Hardy 42 is berthed in the western Solent area.

Would any club members have advice on alternative engineers to service the engines within the next few weeks ? Any recommendations on service companies that are not official MAN dealers ?

Also, would it be issue an issue to push back the servicing to the Autumn of 2021 ?

Thanks for your advice,

Robert
