Hi I have self leveling trim tabs on my regatta. although they keep the boat level I find them not good for lateral trim if I was fitting from new I would opt for controllable type. I hope this helps Rob

Hi David Had a look at self levelling tabs last year for my Family Pilot 20. Decided not to fit them due to the lack of control over powered ones. I am on the west coast of Scotland and like you don't really need a lot of speed although my Suzuki DF70 packs a good enough punch if needed. To be able to adjust them to suit the conditions is great. I fitted Bennett hydraulic operated tabs and it has transformed the handling. A bit more expensive than self levelling but I do like the option of being able to adjust them. If you do go for the self levellers please share you experiences. Kind regards, Robert.

Hi David, I have trim tabs on my Pilot 20. Quite happy with performance. Not sure how self levelling trim tabs operate. Tabs will make huge difference anyway, to fuel consumption, boat handling. This is particularly noticable against wind and tide. I have 75hp Honda and can get on plane quite easily. Also keeping onboard weight to minimum or load everything forward. Basic stuff I know. I am surprised what I carry onboard and not really necessary. Would be interested to know how you get on. Kenny

I have a hardy Bosun 20 and am thinking about fitting self leveling trim tabs instead of having to wire an electric system in, anyone have experience of them? thinking of these ones: http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/self-leveling-tabs-slt/ I do not do much off shore, mainly around Chichester harbour and the Solent/ IOW and am a leisurely sailor not bothered about too much speed but want to keep the bow down a bit more than currently . I have a Suzuki DF 70 o/b fitted.
