This seem to be the same for the 18M/s that I havebought from T RyanMarine Faversham. Also he has just taken in another 18 M/S for sale that has a manual pump port side aft in the cockpit. Best regards Geoff roberts

Hi All. Having access to a 2013 Bosun, I know there wasn't a bilge pump fitted as standard. A lot of the Bosuns I think were supplied direct by Hardy - with no dealers involved so I don't many, have bilge pumps. I tend to use an electric pump with float switch under the outboard well - this discharges into the outboard well and drains out via the existing well drain fitting. Over the years people and dealers fitted all sorts, and even with most Bosuns being 15 years old now, any number of pumps could have been added. Best Regard Simon. P.s. Sorry I've been missing from here - soon to be married and have a lot of at the moment...yikes! ;-)

Ahoy David, We had a post on 16th Oct.2013 regarding a member who was trying to find if they had a bilge pump fitted (under Care and Maintenance) - response at that time was from our other Simon - Simon Kidd, who said the following: "It sounds as if your bilge pump is located under the cockpit sole - there is usually an inspection hatch either at the aft end of the cockpit sole - of just within the area under the engine well. Others are located within teh fuel tank well under the engine. The bilge pump was an optional extra and thus most were fitted by dealers and owners, so thier location does vary. Si." I myself have a Family Pilot and have opted for a manual pump which I have fitted on the side of my Engine well, with a hose which can be pushed either into the bilges from the inspection hatch under the well, or if needed (and I hope not !!) down in to the cabin. The hose is stored ready to go in the well. I know that Simon has both now I think in his Hardy - an automatic in the bilge and an manual. My own thought on this is - do not rely on automatic pumps only, as I have seen them fail - make sure all drainage channels are kept clear so water cannot find it's way in to cockpits and then flow below. As out other Simon says, if you do not already have something fitted in one of your cockpit lockers, then this is another favourite place - I could not use my lockers because of other equipment fitted there. The rest is up to you. Let us know how you get on and if you have any problems. Kind regards, Marie HOC Editor

Hi All, I have a Hardy Bosun, purchased last month. No sign of any automatic bilge pump anywhere, is this fitted as standard when new or added as extra? If there is not one ( and I have looked!!) where is the best place to position it? As always any help appreciated?
