Hi, I have just had some repairs done with the "blue" hull colour. The man I used had a lot of trouble matching the colour and eventually got the right one. He did however have to get much more than was required. If anyone requires small amounts he will be glad to help you. Terry Beech Smooth Finish Titchmarsh Marina Walton on the Naze 07974 559223. Ahoy everyone, We are introducing a new feature to our Hardy Owners magazine and Forum pages regarding professional advice on repairs to Hardy craft built between 1983-1990. Simon Papendick who is a Master Boat Builder at J-Star Boat Services, and who worked with John Hardy during the period mentioned above, has offered to answer HOC Members' questions on anything boat related, and specifically Hardy. Simon will be able to respond directly to all your queries about repairs and also sourcing materials. He has already made some helpful suggestions about sourcing traditional blue gelcoat - a frequent enquiry. Our thanks to Simon for his generous offer. Now over to him. Watch this space everybody - get your Forum questions in now. All the best to everyone, Marie HOC Editor

HI guys, Thanks for all the information. I'm on holiday at the moment but will pursue this once I'm home and have a bit more time available. As soon as I have any information that's of benefit to members I'll stick it on the HOC website. Ron

Hi Chaps, Regarding the blue gelcoat, I have now had a bit of additional information from John Hardy, who also thinks it might be the GC65 pa blue 1190 (can't guarantee though) but it's a start. Also John said supplied by Scott Bader, Woolaston, Wellingborough, Northampton. He also suggested that perhaps you should contact their tech dept., and request a small sample. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks John. All the best, Marie HOC Ed.

Ahoy Ron We are about to start start a new feature here at the HOC offering advice to those owners of older Hardy craft built between 1983 and 1990 thanks to a very kind offer of help by a chap who used to work with John Hardy at that time. Yours is the first question to him, and he has told us that he thinks the gelcoat colour is Scott Bader Oxford Blue, and that it may still be available, but to trade only. We shall follow this up. All the best, Marie HOC Ed.

I can see at least two shades of blue layers on my 1998 and i imagine there is quite a variety on all hardy's pre millennium. Take a paint scrape to your paint shop and colour match to paint tin label.

Hi guys, I have a Hardy Pilot 20' with the traditional blue gelcoat surround above the rope fender. The boat has one or two small dents which were there when we bought her and repairing these is one of the next jobs we intend looking at. My question is, do any of our members know what the actual colour of blue it is, or is there a specific code that identifies the particular shade of blue? Regards Ron
