I own a Hardy seawings 234 with 130 hp inboard volvo penta diesel find the engine rather noisy. I read that at sea trails a south coast dealer had fitted plywood baffles each side of engine to successfully reduce this noise. Any suggestions on this or any other method to reduce engine noise?

Even with extra insulation on the hatch lid and on the engine room/cabin bulkhead I found my 234 noisy I tried temporary Ply bulkheads, with pukka sound deadening, as shown in one of the reports but it didnt make much difference and made routine maintenance on the engine extremely difficult.
I found that up to about 7 knots was bearable and there was a spot around the 12 knot mark that I could live with and of course having the cover folded right down made a considerable difference.
