Roger, another thought you might help with? My Hardy 21' Motorsailer, which has been out of the water for a while, has no obvious Anodes. Could you advise as to where and what size I need in attaching new ones?

James. Having measured up my Hardy 20MS rope the best size is 200mm. I only checked the Screwfix on line catalogue. On e bay teknikr6 is selling 300mm pack of 20 for £6.50 plus pp £1.20, but I think they are too long.It will be good when you become a member as we can use the members only chat room for instant e mails. Wish more would join, it's cheap enough !! Roger Piper

Regarding s steel cable ties above. Screwfix packs contain 50 ties, too many for me but would like some when I take off the rope soon. Has anyone got 10 or so spare ties for sale or are willing to share cost of £11.24 plus £5 p& p from Screwfix ?

To Andy Wells (21/3/08) Hi Andy I have just joined(awaiting membership number), having purchased a 21' Motorsailer with new Coir rope fender, and would be interested in the Ebay connection for the s/s ties? Many thanks James Cantwell

I've just replaced the coir fender on my Pilot 20, and found a bloke on E-Bay selling stainless steel cable ties, very thin and flexible, advertised as being specifically for this job. I bought some and they're great, do the job and much stronger than nylon cable ties. Excellent. Andy

I don't know what the orginal Hardy 25 fuel tank configuration was but I have one large stainless tank around 45 gallons directly under the wheelhouse floor and two connected wing tanks which sit either side of it. The wing tanks are off at the moment and I can give you measurements if it helps.

Norman, your Hardy 25 is it the Mariner 25/26 hull? If it is the range is indeed poor on longer passsages I carry up to 80 litres in containers which I transfer by 12v pump powered by the socket on the helm switch panel. I wish to increase the diesel tankage by 100 litres = 320 litres total, my method would be to fabricate new or rework the existing s/s tank I calculate the new tank would encroach approx 5" back into the lazarette. My reasoning is to keep the fuel weight as low down as possible & central to the vessels balance. This option saves mucking around with the crazy but useful 200 litre fresh water. system/tanks. I would be interested in your ideas/solution.

Has anyone increased the diesel tankage on a Hardy 25 ? The range is not clever on my boat. Is a plastic extra tank an option and where do you put it?

Yes, it worked and worked very well. My old rope - which now looks like a new rope, was refitted without any problems and without any help. If anyone wants the lowdown on how to make good their old rope and how to refit it without it sagging again - let me know. Robert Smith (Hardy 25 - Eurypyga)

I have just renovated my rope (Hardy 25)by power washing it looks fine. I have had a stainless steel hook/bracket made (bit like a 1.5 inch wide coat hook) which is to be screwed to the little flat bit on the bow (1.5 inches by 2 inches). The rope at the bow sits in the hook and I am fitting two new U-bolts further in towards the middle of the transom to allow for bigger bottle screws. In theory it should be perfect - but I'll tell you in a few days!

I replaced my coir fendering some 12 months ago. The length required for the 25 is 15.5 mtrs and should be 72mm dia. My rope fender was supplied by ''Tradline Rope & Fenders'' at a cost of about £420 (using a galvanised wire core, S/S core will cost extra) address - Braunston Marina, Nr Daventry, Northhants Tel 01788 891761. Suggest you consider using bottle screws to tie off (even if it means fixing new eyes to the transom) its much easier and looks good. Good luck with attaching the fender to your boat, I inserted a line in the lay of the rope which in turn secured the rope to eyes on the hull. Looks OK but easier said than done. Hope this helps.

Hi Merry Christmas, Does anyone know the diameter of a Hardy 25 rope fender please.I have a 25 with rope fender missing and would like to get one from Langman in Holland but they need to know the diameter.I have measured the space from eye bolt round the stem to the other eyebolt on the transom at 51 inch or 15 meters 60. Also has anyone had experience of these polypropelene fenders, are they as springey and shock absorbing as a rope one? Any help appreciated,dw
