Hi Roger
Even though we continue to use our Pilot at sea with 5 of us now (3 boys below 5 ), I have not yet fitted them.
We seem to have managed without pretty well. We have the boys harnessed to the inside flange of the wheel house these days when underway at sea. Works well with elastic type harnesses and they have grown used to the idea. Still lots of scope to play in the wheelhouse or fish over the sides.
Trips up front to the bow are very rare when at sea, in all but the calmest of seas. Things will soon change i am sure as they get older...but then will we be in a bigger boat by then? We are now based out of beautiful Southwold, Suffolk and have felt no overiding need to re-consider fitting deck rails.
Regards
Dominic.

On my Hardy 20 MS the guard rails are held in place by 2 screws down into the top of the hull sides.

With an increasingly adventurous junior member of our crew roaming about 'Jura Pilot', we are Planning to fit guard rails to her.
Wondering if anyone would be so kind as to pass on any tips for the DIY fitting of these. From what I can see, it kooks like fitting the stanchions to the inside gunnels could be tricky (on our 1993 model at least) as there is little or no space to get at the bolt ends from within the boat.
Most Pilot owners purchase their boats with these already fitted, but I would guess there must be someone who has done a retro-fit and has some useful experiences to pass on. Yes/no?
Many thanks in advance
Dominic and Nicola Gribbin.
